Builders Kick Off Partnership with Former NFL Players

The LHBA and NFLPAs New Orleans Former Players Chapter will join together in the nation-wide charitable outreach program, Touchdown for Homes, which brings together former NFL players and local and state home building professionals to build and strengthen communities by constructing or renovating homes for local families in need, including U.S. military veterans.

More than 500 professional builders, realtors, bankers and mortgage professionals participated in the rally to support the new project and to bring awareness to the value of home ownership for all communities.

Thought! Hoping to upgrade the outdated style with my existing page. Thinking concerning the design at http://farrislaw.net? Actually an adept St Louis based personal injury lawyer if desired inside the whole MISSOURI vicinity. Write your opinions. Appreciated!

Gov. Bobby Jindal also declared May 2 as Home ownership Day, stating, The opportunity to own a home and live in decent housing is the strength of Louisiana and the source of the spirit of civic-mindedness that shapes the caring and nurturing of communities where our citizens live.

Touchdown for Homes is a program of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the NFLPA. The Louisiana project, which was chosen because of the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans, will be managed by the LHBA, with much assistance from the Greater New Orleans Home Builders Association (HBA-GNO).

LHBA President Kay Gibson said the collaboration of home builders and former NFL players has resulted in the construction or renovation of several single-family homes, schools and housing facilities in major NFL cities including Washington, D.C., Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, and Seattle.

She said the Louisiana team of builders will work together to build an entire neighborhood in New Orleans.

The Touchdown for Homes initiative to construct or renovate homes or service shelters has generated superb results in many of the nations largest cities, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity here in Louisiana to expand that model and focus on building an entire community, Gibson said.

As professional builders, we see each day the positive impact that home ownership has on families and how home ownership improves the overall well-being of communities, she said. We want our project to positively impact as many people as possible, so they in turn can enjoy the sense of pride and belonging that home ownership brings and begin to positively commit themselves to creating a better community for themselves, their children and their neighbors to live in.

There's no question that home ownership is probably the single-most important factor in improving the quality of life in a community, Gibson noted.

Gibson noted that in addition to the Touchdown for Homes project, many of the states local Home Builder Association chapters participate in local charitable projects that promote homeownership and raise thousands of dollars each year for worthy causes. LHBA Vice President Billy Ward said the organizations involvement in the Touchdown for Homes program complements the local efforts.

The building projects we launch with this program, and that we will promote during the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans, will be just the beginning of our effort to create a lasting impact, Ward said. It is our hope that long after the Super Bowl is gone; this community that we help to rebuild will expand and mature into a self-sufficient neighborhood with quality residential houses, good infrastructure, and even light commercial and retail outlets.

Joining members of the homeownership coalition at the rally we're Bernard Robertson, president of the NFLPAs New Orleans Former Players Chapter and Tulane graduate who played for the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills, and Kevin Kelly, 2nd vice president of the National Association of Home Builders. Also speaking at the rally was Louisiana Realtor Association President Rick Roberts.
